Meals
We serve BREAKFAST at 9.30 am: Idlis, upma, sandwiches, pohe, sheera, sprout bhel, sabudana khichdi etc. It is a carbohydrate rich breakfast that provides the children with enough energy for the day ahead.

Our LUNCH  at 12.30 pm consists of chappatis, vegetable, salad, raita, rice, dal , papad. Dals and kadhis are enriched with nutritious veggies. This standard Indian lunch often serves a vegetable that the children themselves have grown ( lady’s fingers, tomatoes, bottle gourd, spinach and fenugreek are regularly cultivated in our kitchen garden) Setu learners have the satisfaction of watching their food grow. Their teachers encourage appreciation of the gifts of nature and the value of the hard work put in by farmers.

AFTERNOON SNACK AT 2.45PM fortifies the children for the last leg of the day- travel home. Milk and/or fruit, rounds off the menu for the day. The uniqueness for urban children is in the fact that they can watch our resident cow being milked if they want to.

Travel to school
School vans pick up every single child and teacher. No child comes by private vehicle thus saving fuel and reducing pollution. Charges depend on distance traveled.

Uniforms
These are made out of Khadi that has been made by a women’s NGO , Udyog Bharati in Gujarat . Trimmings are of vegetable dyed fabric. Children wear sandals instead of shoes, in response to Indian weather condition. They are encouraged to be barefoot for a large part of the day, savouring the sensation of grass, tile and mud floor with the soles of their feet.

Uniforms are ordered and delivered in school at the beginning of the year.

Sports
Our sports teacher comes in twice a week. There is plenty of open space and fresh oxygen for children to exercise and invigorate themselves. Organised games and formal sports begin in Std 4. The school plans a junior football, kho-kho and kabaddi team . Our annual sports day in January is the very popular Crazy Games

Arts Centre
The Kaleidoscope is a specially designed Arts space. Specialist teachers for Art, Music, Dance and Drama come in every week. Creative writing is practised every day as part of the child’s self expression activities.

Doctor on Call
Aman Setu has an arrangement with local medical practitioners so that any medical emergency can be dealt with swiftly. Every 6 months a medical check up of all students ensures that common problems such as vision and poor teeth can be monitored regularly.

Counseling
Our counsellor visits twice a week. Our programme is preventive as well as therapeutic. The school environment and  our Arts programme allow for a healthy expression of emotions. Workshops and group sessions for parents as well as teachers provide guidance and support.

Special Education
Our team at Cornerstone guides teachers to design individual programmes and evaluation for children with special needs.
